Day 2 Update Saturday, August 23nd, 2003 Team Mitsubishi Motor Sports America 2003 Ojibwe Forests ProRally: Day 2 News & Notes Team Mitsubishi Motorsports American clinches 2003 Manufacturers' Championship in Minnesota In Bemidji, Minnesota today, a page of Mitsubishi Motor Sports history was written. David Higgins and Daniel Barritt again demonstrated their professionalism, winning the 2003 Ojibwe Forests ProRally and clinching the 2003 Overall Manufacturers’ SCCA ProRally Championship. Despite having transmission problems on the very last stage, and having the car stuck in fourth gear, Higgins was unstoppable in his quest for the title. Higgins and Barritt are true champions and Mitsubishi Motor Sports America congratulates them on a job extremely well done. Teammates Lauchlin O’Sullivan and Christian Edstrom also had a great run and finished next to Higgins on the podium in third overall. This is another outstanding result for the O’Sullivan & Edstrom team, themselves rising stars in the SCCA Championship series. O’Sullivan extends his points lead over fellow American Tim O’Neil for second place in the Driver’s Championship. The Lancer Evolution in its first year on American soil has made a big splash, and winning the Manufacturer’s Championship is a true testament to its strength and amazing performance. The Lancer Evolution just got another winning Championship added to its racing history. |
